Spy Gadgets move from fiction to fact – We have all been astounded by the spy gadgets of famous movies and TV shows. Movies like James Bond, Mission Impossible and even when we were kids, the cartoon – Inspector Gadget. At the time of making these were a demonstration of the creativity of the human mind. But do these spy gadgets really exist and is the technology now available to the general public?
One of the most common scenes in films and TV shows for someone going undercover is to ‘wire up’ with cameras and listening devices. Spy equipment is regularly used by Police undercover units and Private Investigators in their everyday work. Button and Tie Cameras with attached recording devices have been around for years, but now ‘wiring up’ has become simple because spy cameras and audio recording gadgets have been incorporated into ‘innocuous looking’ everyday products.
The miniaturisation of camera and digital recording technology means that instead of having to spend time hiding camera systems or microphones and recorders under clothing, the surveillance professional can now literally pick up several everyday objects that are in themselves spy gadgets that will achieve covert video and audio evidence comparable to the spy gadgets of yesteryear.
Everybody carries a mobile phone don’t they, so what about one with a high quality sophisticated camera system built in. Most of us carry a pen about with us, so how about a pen camera or a voice activated pen recorder to get exactly what a spy would need. Forget the bag camera system because camera systems are now available in lighters and car key fobs. How many people do you know who carry a USB Flash Drive storage device on their keys or around their neck. Well how about one that records high quality audio.
James Bond, Ethan Hunt and in fact Inspector Gadget had best get some new ideas because now we can all be budding spies with the latest spy gadgets that can fit in with every situation.
