Vodafone UK has plenty to be happy about, their May lineup of handsets are bound to get the attention of the mobile phone market.
First off, the Nexus One has been confirmed to be available through pre-order, right now. If you sign up early for this device, you can get the Google phone as early as May 5 when it finally gets shipped. According to Vodafone, they will be stocking the device directly –as opposed to earlier reports that the Nexus One would only be available through the Google Online Store. This change in decision by Google might just make the smart phone a success in the UK (it failed in the US due to being exclusively available in the Google Store).
Another Android phone under Vodafone is the HTC Desire. This device shares similar specs to the Nexus One but it lacks the new voice recognition software. Instead, the Desire will be using the HTC Sense user interface. It has also been reported that the Desire is cheaper than the Nexus One in Vodafone’s contract offers.
Coming soon to Vodafone is the Kin handsets from Microsoft. There are officially two handsets under this line and both will be using a customized version of the Windows CE platform. The devices are centered towards social networking under Facebook and with the new Loop interface, sharing content and links with contacts is as easy as drag and drop.
The two phones will be named Turtle and Pure. The Turtle is a small compact phone that is shaped like the shell of the animal. The Pure on the other hand is a slightly larger touch screen device. Both phones come with slide out QWERTY keyboards. The Pure has a better camera at 8 mega pixels and a screen that is almost twice the size of the Turtle’s.
